Description of Business
The company is a Minnesota Limited Liability Company (LLC) to maximize returns and pass-through financial benefits to members. The company has developed a strategy for start-up and growth to full production capacity that encompasses initially operating a small-scale soybean crushing plant that produces High By-pass Protein Soybean Meal (HBPSMTM), followed by the installation of a full-scale production plant implementing the experience learned from the pilot operation.
The soybean production within 25 miles of Cannon Falls is adequate to supply the plant at full capacity of 120,000 tons annually. The primary product, HBPSMTM, will be sold to dairy producers and to dairy farmers in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The crushing operation will also provide a reliable stream of soybean oil that can be marketed as soybean oil. Benchmark Ag has an alternate business plan of biodiesel production as part of a future expansion.
Benchmark Ag has outsourced some of the engineering and production expertise of currently identified industry experts. The company will build relationships with both suppliers and end-users of our products, as it scales up capacity to more than 3.6 million gallons per year.
By ramping-up production capacity, the enterprise will more efficiently deploy its capital and reduce the risk.
