Intro to HBPSM™

HBPSMTM stands for High-Bypass Protein Soybean Meal.

There are several types of specialized machines and systems required to efficiently produce oil and animal feed in the quantities and quality we require. Soybeans can be stored on-site in large bins designed to carefully control the temperature and moisture content. The beans are then moved by a conveyor to a seed cleaner to remove debris and foreign matter left over from harvesting. It is then conveyed to a heater which warms the seed, allowing easy hull removal and improving oil extraction. Next, the seed moves to a de-huller which removes the outer seed hull, followed by a seed cracker which breaks the seed into small pieces. The pieces flow through the oil seed expeller which squeezes the vegetable oil from the seed pieces.

The oil is collected, strained of impurities and stored until needed for further processing into biodiesel. The seed-cake or meal is collected and cooled prior to grinding into uniformly sized animal feed granules. HBPSMTM is especially valuable for dairy cattle operations, and will be available to approximately 1.6 million dairy cattle located nearby in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

HBPSMTM is a registered trademark of Benchmark Ag, LLC
